Biography:

Mr. Charles Kleinermann Serves as Head of ICARDA Capacity Development Unit since October 2014 to-date based in Cairo, Egypt, since July 2017. Formerly, he served as Technical Training Officer at ICARDA Capacity Development Unit, April 2012 � September 2014, based in Amman, Jordan, until June 2017.

As Head of ICARDA Capacity Development Unit, he is supervising all the capacity development activities implemented throughout ICARDA mandate covering a geographic area of more than 40 countries from Morocco to India. He also served as a Steering Committee member of the CGIAR Capacity Development Community of Practice.

As Technical Training Officer, he has been in charge of various Capacity Development activities. Those activities can be summarized as such: JICA Iraq-AusAID TOT trainings, JICA Afghanistan TOT Trainings, JICA Iraq Yen Loan Project, ICARDA-AFESD Center level training courses, ICARDA AFESD Scholarships Grants 2012� 2019, various ICARDA CDU publications, JICA-IKR Wheat Project, Capacity Development support to various training courses implemented under project level, data control and reporting, CRP activities, budget management and reporting.

Prior to joining ICARDA, Mr. Kleinermann has been the Deputy Secretary General of the European Movement International, an International NGO financed by the European Union based in Brussels, Belgium; and he was in charge of coordinating the different capacity development activities organized thoughout the 42 National Councils of the European Movement. He has also been the Secretary General of the MEDEA Institute, a specialized Institute on Euro� Mediterranean and Euro� Arab relations.
