Biography:
Eiman Karar is an Environmental Scientist with vast experience in multilevel governance of natural resources. She held a number of positions in the South African public sector leading the decentralization reforms in the water sector as well as directing knowledge production, uptake and interface with community and policy makers in support of water governance reforms. As a governance technical expert, she was advisor to UN Environment in Sudan around peacebuilding through natural resources management, legal, policy and organizational reform for better water governance and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) advocacy. Currently, she is consulting to the UN Environment and UNESCO Category 2 Regional Center for Capacity Building in Water Harvesting, Sudan. Trainer to the Hague Academy for Local Governance on Multilevel Water Governance and Institutional Reforms, and advisor to UNICEF Sudan; developing a national strategy for community management of rural water supply facilities. Advisor to UNESCO Chair of Water Sudan (Omdurman Islamic University) Sudan; Executive member of the Sudan IWRM Network and Executive Board Director of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA). For the past 5 years, she is a member of the Scientific Programme Committee for the World Water Week, and is a member of the IWA World Congress 2020 Scientific Programme Committee. She is the Editor of the Springer Open access books entitled �Water Governance for the 21st century�, 2017.
