Lectures from (4/23/2024)

The BA Center for Islamic Civilization Studies at the Research Sector is organizing a lecture entitled: "The Works of Buildings in Engineering Sciences by Abu al-Wafa al-Buzjani." The lecture will be delivered by Professor Dr. Ibrahim Maarouf, Professor of History and Theories of Architectural Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering - Alexandria University on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at BA- Conference Center, Delegates Hall.

The lecture discusses the efforts of the mathematician and engineer Abu al-Wafa al-Buzjani, who excelled in his writings that selected from the engineering sciences what benefited construction works. He became one of the first to establish the engineering rules for construction works in many of its terms and clauses, especially in his book "What the Craftsman Needs from Engineering Works," which is considered one of the rare books in the field of engineering and applied mathematics in Islamic civilization. The lecture will examine these writings and how they were able to present solutions to some of the implementation problems that we still need some of them in our current era.
