Observation of the “Total Solar Eclipse,” 29 March 2006
The pivotal event of the festivity is the “Total Solar Eclipse,” which will be taking place the morning of 29 March 2006. It is this event that enhances the chances of attracting the attention of the renowned astronomers invited to the festivity since the eclipse will only be seen across northern Africa, the eastern Mediterranean and parts of central Asia and will only be partial across Europe .
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), as the local host, will arrange for a trip to Al-Saloum, where the total solar eclipse will be best seen, for the speakers of both forums and the graduate students participating in the workshop/school. The group of around one hundred individuals will spend the night preceding the eclipse in a well equipped camp, which would present an opportunity for further interaction between the speakers, students and members of the BA Planetarium Science Center (PSC). |
