Poverty is often associated with rural life, and many or even most of the vector-borne diseases are rural. The urban-rural interfac changes via population expansion that includes continuous immigration to the cities. Eradication of leishmaniasis depends upon the eventual eradication of the diverse sandfly vectors, not upon individual treatments. The ultimate goal is better living, and less disease is part of this.
