*Tend to be long-term
*Are common to almost all women and men
*Involve women as agents, or enable women to become agents
*Relate to women’s disadvantaged position in society, subordination, lack of resources and education, vulnerability to poverty and violence.
*Are not easily identified by women and men
*Can empower women and transform gender relations
