13. Incubation period: time from
exposure to development of disease.
14. Serial interval: time between generations of disease (also called generation time). Time between similar symptoms in successive generations. 15. Infectious period: length of time a person can transmit disease. 16. Latent period: period of infection without being infectious. This may occur right after exposure or late in the disease. 17. Epidemic: occurrence of cases of illness in excess of expectancy. An epidemic whose incidence remains stable for a long period is describes as endemic. A global outbreak is described as a pandemic. |
