It is important to establish monitoring and control when implementing corrective
actions for micronutrient deficiencies. For iodine deficiency, toxicity of thyroid function can be induced when correction of ID is not carefully monitored. The potential harms and benefits will differ in each location and population and therefore have to be evaluated each time an intervention program is planned or performed. A balance between harm and benefit has to be achieved. |
