In 1992 Carlsen et al. published an analysis of 61 historical studies and concluded that sperm concentration had declined globally 50% over the preceding 50 years. In our reanalysis of these (and additional) data we also found significant trends in sperm concentration, but these varied geographically, with significant declines in Northern Europe and North America, but insufficient data elsewhere to draw any conclusion about trends. |
