This photomicrograph shows a culture system developed to to examine the action of two independent branches of a single in Aplysia sensory neuron (the small neuron in the middle) on two different motor neurons (large neurons). Serotonin can be selectively applied to one and not the other of the two branches. The flow of the serotonin can be monitored with the dye, fast green.
