At the same time the Norwegians published data suggesting
that they have been able to achieve the elusive goal set by SVD. Their data reported
perinatal mortality in Norway only slightly higher than the background population and with
reduced congenital malformations. In the UK the Norwegian data was criticised. It was
suggested that perhaps in Norway there was a high termination rate for congenital
malformations. The definition of stillbirth was different to the definition of stillbirth
in England. Stillbirth in England is gestation age > 24 weeks, in Norway it was >28
weeks. It was also suggested that in Norway region the data included women with
gestational diabetes patients. |
