Sanger published
numerous books and journal articles promoting birth control’s cause because
she fervently believed that birth control was necessary to protect: 1. a
woman's health 2. her relationship with her husband 3. her ability to earn a
living 4. her enjoyment of her own sexuality 5. the care of her
existing children and 6. her very sanity. 1937 was the year that the AMA
finally accepted birth control as a legitimate part of health care; however,
Sanger needed a well respected member of the medical profession working from
within organized medicine to achieve this major victory. |
