In 1991 the NHIS collected vaccination coverage data but the sample size was limited and did not allow for state coverage estimates. Additionally, the data were reported 12-18 months post collection. From 1994-2001 the National Immunization Provider Record Check Study was used to increase the accuracy of the NHIS. In 2004, NHIS stopped collecting immunization information.
