Knowledge from scientific research has prompted notable shifts in attitudes and behaviors toward drug abuse. We now know that drug abuse can be prevented and approaches to prevention have been codified. NIDA’s booklet, Preventing Drug Use among Children and Adolescents, provides research-based principles for preventing drug abuse.
