We identified 3 patients with the V408M (Afrikaner-2) mutation. They shared only one pair of distant ancestors. The lines of transmission (half-solid symbols) connect the three probands. All family members in the sibships along the lines of transmission had 0.5 probability of carrying the V408M mutation. Many additional lines of transmission through the pedigree were identified, but these are not shown in this figure.
