While reading a chapter on
meta-analysis in a statistics textbook back in 1989, a “light bulb” went off in my
head as it made perfect sense to me that with the proliferation of information in
today’s world there would be a need to combine studies on the same topic in order to
reach some general conclusions about the effect of X intervention on Y outcome. Coupled
with my interest and training on the effects of physical activity on health-related
disease, I have chosen to focus my career primarily, but not solely, on the use of the
meta-analytic approach for the purpose of examining the effects of physical activity on
health-related disease. Please feel free to view my faculty profile for further
information about my research. |
