“Respondents in the 2000 General Social Survey were nearly twice as
likely to agree that abortion should be legal under circumstances
related to the health of the mother or baby than under social
circumstances. For example, nearly 90% of respondents agreed with
abortion if the mother’s health was threatened, compared to less
than 43% if the woman ‘wanted an abortion for any reason’.”
