On the chart, an asterisk
denotes where the difference between men and women in agreement with
abortion achieved conventional levels of statistical significance.
This feature conveys that men are slightly but statistically
significantly more likely than women to agree with abortion under
each of the three health reasons, but that there is no gender
difference for any of the social reasons.
By organizing the items
conceptually the three-way association between gender, circumstance
and agreement with abortion can be summarized in two to three
sentences – a far better synthesis than separate descriptions of
gender differences for each of the six reasons.
