Component 2: The training course will be once per year for 6
years in the different regions of WHO. The model is virtually the
same as that used in Cambridge. The
objectives are for the students to meet others from outside
their disciplines to build bridges and collaboration. The learning
objectives are to give the students tools needed for research into
the prevention of Non-communicable diseases. The course work will
include areas such as epidemiology, biostatistics, evaluation,
chronic disease epidemiology, risk factors, etc.
These lectures will be in English and take place in the
morning. In the afternoon each of the 8 instructors will be assigned
to 6 students, and will
develop projects in the area of non-communicable diseases, such as
Physical Activity and NCD health, national NCD programs, diabetes
and CHD, disabilities associated with NCDs, depression, cancer,
diabetes and NCD, etc. On the final two days the groups will present
their research program/project.
