As work became
more skilled, as legislation increasingly protected the worker from the worst inhumanities
of the employers, the employer began to appreciate the advantages of a well trained,
conscientious work force. These workers would stay for many years with one firm and one
job.It was a good investment to train the worker;it was realistic to look at the workplace
and see how it might be improved There would be less turnover of staff, better sickness
rates and improved quality and productivity. |
