Learning a good Arabic handwriting is neither difficult nor impossible. Arabic Calligraphy is not just a method to write the words; but also a beautiful creative art that reaches the highest artistic levels. Arabic calligraphy was not restricted on decorating palaces and mosques, it also expanded to decorate clothes, carpets, literature works.

Writing and Scripts  Center, BA, organizes a workshop for the children and young people, age from 9 to 16 years old, under the title of “Journey through the Historical Periods”. The journey starts in the Ancient Egyptian period, passes by the Hellenistic and Coptic Periods and finally ends in the modern period. This journey aims at exploring the beautiful cultural and linguistic diversity in Egypt throughout the different historic ages.

On the occasion of the International Day of the Arabic Language celebrated annually on the 18th of December, on which the United Nation made its decision to adopt the Arabic language within the official and working languages of the General Assembly and its Main Committees, the Calligraphy Center organizes the award celebration of the 4th Arabic Calligraphy Competition for the Students of Alexandria schools.

The Calligraphy Center holds a new lecture in its Culture Season with a lecture titled "The influence of the Ancient Egyptian Language on the Modern Languages"  presented by the researcher and tour guide  Ramy Samir Farag Mina. The lecture will take place on the 20th of November, 2012 in the Auditorium Hall, Main Library Entrance at 1pm.
