Search by Subject Request Service (SSR) Service

Search by Subject Request Service (SSR) is a service provided to researchers enabling them to request e-articles or chapters of e-books covering a specific subject from one or more of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina subscribed databases using keywords specified by the researcher. The service shall provide you with full-text results. The percentage of the downloaded digital materials is subject to the separate terms of each database.

The results are sent via e-mail.

Who can Enjoy the Search by Subject Request Service?

Such service is available to researchers* only, whether BA members of all categories, or non- members.

* Researchers are those who registered the research subject during the postgraduate studies period after completing the preliminary studies.

What are the Search by Subject Request Service Form Rules?

Each researcher should:

  • Submit only one topic/one online Search by Subject Request Form/week.
  • Clarify the form using accurate keywords to assist in reaching the most accurate and objective research results.
  • Use one language throughout the whole form.

How and When are the Results Sent?

Results are sent via e-mail, within 5 working days from the submission date of the online application form, and in the same language you have submitted your request in.

Terms and Conditions (According to Intellectual Property Law)

  • E-articles: Only one article can be submitted from each issue of a definite e-periodical.
  • E-books: Only 20% of an e-book content can be sent.
  • University E-theses and E-dissertations: Cannot be sent.

Results must be used for personal, academic, or scientific research purposes only.

We would also like to inform you that there are other websites, such as the Digital Asset Repository (DAR), which contain several public domain books, and can be browsed in full text.

You can also log into the Egyptian Knowledge Bank website, using national ID card number, and view and/or download the available e-books and e-articles. There are platforms dedicated to children, basic education, reading, higher education and scientific research.
