This lecture aims
to provide two accounts of why people show dependency behaviours, particularly those
involving pharmacologically-active substances, such as nicotine, “ice” and heroin. The lecture addresses the concept of “addiction” which, it argues, is central to maintaining the belief that it is chemicals, rather than explanations and social influences, which dictate drug use. |
