NIA is collaborating with the Icelandic Heart Association, Reykjavik, Iceland
for a multi-year research study to investigate genetic susceptibility and
gene-environment interaction in health conditions common in old age. The
population to be studied in this project is a unique established longitudinal
cohort study in Iceland, the Reykjavik Study, under the supervision of the
Icelandic Heart Association. The contractor proposes to re-examine surviving
cohort members, approximately 12,000 survivors aged 65 and over, in either a
clinic or at home. Contract review and the negotiation process are underway.
