The action could
be: 1/ Identify the invading virus by surveillance and 2/ stop it by
vaccinating the susceptibles with the cocktail or chimeric vaccine. Another
action is just to stop it ! Successful reduction of an epidemic as in horses
by a multiviral vaccine is a very reasonable goal.
A cocktail may be an unsophisticated mixture of formalin-killed vaccines. A chimeric vaccine may be the live reconstruction of virus parts on the backbone of another virus gene by aid of a plasmid. See Guirakhoo et al. (2002) Virology 298: 146-159. However, the reality is that in over 30 years no VEEV vaccination effort of worth has developed. The PRIORITIES may be: 1/ Dengue 1-4, 2/ WNV, 3/ VEEV and 4/ EEEV. |
