The other question I was concerned about was that most of the
time when asked a question, people will answer you as best they can because they really
want to, but they may not be answering exactly the question you think they are. The
question was, "How much did you drink during the first trimester?" And the
question in my mind was, "Are they really thinking about the first trimester, or are
they thinking about when they actually realized they were pregnant?" So we split the
question into a series of questions that asked the women about the different parts of the
first trimester. We'd ask them when they got pregnant, and most women know exactly when
they got pregnant, at least within the month. And then we'd ask them to specify whether it
was the beginning, middle or end of the month. |
