ISO/IEC 17025 clause 5.5.4 specifies:
Records shall be maintained of each item of equipment…The records shall include…

identity of the equipment…;

…unique identification;

checks that…complies with the specification;

…location, where appropriate;

..manufacturer’s instructions…or reference to their location;

...copies of reports…of calibrations, adjustments, acceptance criteria…due date of next calibration;

maintenance plan, where appropriate…maintenance to date;

damage, malfunction, modification or repair...

NATA specifies maximum periods between calibrations for several classes of equipment, e.g. balances, pipettes, thermometers, timing devices. These intervals can be negotiated, depending on the circumstances. (Appendix 2 to General Requirements for Registration, 1992.)
