Throughout the XIX Century and the beginning of the XX Century a separate
doctrinal approach was created . Pediatricians conferred on the child its own
identity. It would no longer be a “miniature adult”. The special nature of
infancy is based on the processes of growth and development which influence
health conditions and illness. This medical identity of the child had
repercussions in all social areas in general and in the movements of child
protection in particular.
