Trends in melanoma incidence keep on increasing in most countries all over the world. The average annual increase of rates during 1960-1980 ranges from 3% to 9% in most cancer registries [6]. In Granada, the average annual increase of incidence rates accounts for some 4% for both sexes during 1985-1992.

The increase of trunk tumours in males is specially relevant. All what has been mentioned above, together with the presence of melanomas in given body sites, such as females’ trunks, highlight the importance of changing social habits, e.g. recreational sunlight exposure of body areas that are usually covered [6, 23, 24].
