Abstract:
This report sets out to present and discuss innovative approaches to river basin management. It reveals the results of a joint action-research project co-ordinated by Gomukh, India, and Both ENDS, the Netherlands and seven partner organisations. Through analysis and comparison of seven case studies, the publication generates a set of conclusions on the potential of river basin management based on local visions and experiences. It shows that the universal applicability of these experiences, which have so far been looked upon as isolated experiments or success stories, need to be acknowledged.
