Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) represented by the International Communication Section ICS affiliated to the BA Library Sector in cooperation with The North-West University (NWU) and the university of Pretoria are pleased to organize the 3^rd round of the International Conference on Information Literacy ICIL- Africa 2024 hosted by the BA at the city of Alexandria. This round will take place from the 14^th to the 17^th of October 2024 at the BA Conference center with the theme: “Information Literacy Revolution… Get Ready!”. Within the framework of this round, light will be shed on the innovations in the field of Library Information Science and related domains and this is by bringing to the table of discussion several trending and emerging topics that matters to librarians and researchers related to Digital inclusion, Smart libraries, and the Inclusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in different contexts related to libraries and Information literacy.

“Going Digital… Transforming Lives” the annual virtual program launched by BAIFA and the BA Francophone Network, at the Information Institutions and Professional Skills department - Library sector at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, under the theme of “Digital Transformation in the World of Information”. Through this program, we aim to highlight the role of digital transformation in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); the status of digital transformation in African and Francophone countries; and the different opportunities and challenges these countries are facing in this domain. Within this program, we shared a wide range of open access electronic resources, selected and evaluated by the librarians of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Also, different virtual activities were organized, including videos and webinars.

During the current health crisis and the various measures implemented around the world to deal with the COVID19 pandemic, an accurate information is vital for saving lives and limiting as much as possible the number of cases growing by time, so that hospitals' resources are not overwhelmed by an influx of patients. Within this objective, the International Communication's section has the pleasure to launch “Pandemics Around the World” virtual program. Within this program, open access electronic resources, selected and evaluated by the librarians of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina are shared weekly. These resources provide information about the pandemics that has marked the history, as well as the recent websites developed about the COVID-19 topic.

BAIFA has launched its annual program for 2019: “Africa Talks Education: For a Better Tomorrow!”, with the theme: “Higher Education in Africa”. Through this program, BAIFA aims to highlight the current status of higher education in Africa, the challenges it faces, the efforts deployed to enhance the situation of higher education in different countries in Africa. The program will shed light on different success stories, and highlight the important and vital role of informal education delivered by libraries.

BAIFA organized the "Speak Out: Your Gate to Hope" program, within the framework of World Health Organization (WHO) one-year campaign Depression: Let’s Talk, launched in October 2016. The overall goal of this campaign, is that more people with depression, in all countries, seek and get help through this annual theme, and as far as Africa is concerned by WHO as one of the regions suffering from depression.
