Note:
One of the primary wishes of the Fair, Green and Global Alliance (FGG) members was recently fulfilled by the Rutte II Cabinet: the trade and global development posts have been brought under a single ministry, the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. After all, development cooperation can only be successful if it is accompanied by sustainable trade regulations. The recognition of the relationship between these two dossiers will provide an excellent window of opportunity in the coming years to bring back a more balanced approach to trade as it relates to a more sustainable and just world. In "Balancing Trade and Aid", the members of the FGG Alliance present some recommendations to Minister Ploumen, based on their years of experience in the field of policy coherence and international trade.
