Abstract:
The ‘governance bonus’ of tax reforms in terms of greater responsiveness in state-society relations is assessed by focusing on fiscal efficiency and transparency, democratic accountability, and external accountability towards international donors, using the cases of Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.
