Abstract:
Cholera remains a global burden affecting mainly Low-middle-income countries including those affected by conflict. The coincidence of conflict and cholera is associated with worst outcomes due to impaired responses as it jeopardizes access to the affected populations because of insecurity, impairing the capacity of the actors to carry out interventions to contain the outbreaks. Little has been described about the adaptations that cholera interventions undergo when a conventional approach is not feasible in conflict settings. This thesis aims to explore how conflict and its consequences define cholera outbreak management strategies through the example of South Sudan and Yemen in order to formulate pertinent recommendations.
