Abstract:
Lassa fever, an emerging acute illness of viral origin is common in west Africa. In Nigeria yearly outbreaks occur, but peaks during harmattan. Viral transmission occurs primarily via ingestion of poorly processed diets contaminated by rodent excreta and less commonly from contact with infected objects and persons.
