Abstract:
The development of a National Laboratory system in Liberia has just begun and needs to be accelerated, starting with the definition of a costed plan and accountability framework. Significant supply chain weaknesses resulting in frequent stock-outs are a critical bottleneck, requiring a sector-wide solution, while the shortage of qualified laboratory staff has to be quantified and addressed. Research on laboratory practices, test turnaround times and use, needs to be undertaken.
