Academic research is the act of carrying out investigations, thorough studies and/or running experiments about specific issues or questions. Consequently, researcher collects and analyzes data, finds solutions, explores phenomena and/or solves problems. These outcomes should be transferred into manuscripts and published in renowned specialized journals. Hence, the researcher would contribute to human knowledge and have great impact on scientific community. Thus, rigorous work is required in order to have an accepted academic article in a well-known peer-reviewed international journal.

The library offers orientation sessions to all new and returning Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) patrons. These sessions are designed to acquaint users with the physical layout of the building and standard library services, as well as to inform them of the variety of information resources available for their researching needs. Through the orientation program, patrons will briefly learn about the new BA cultural complex, Conference Center facilities and activities, the BA research centers, library services, policies, collections and facilities within the Main Library and specialized libraries, and much more.

This course consists of four main lessons. Starting with the Introduction, you will have a glimpse about bibliographies, citation types, and different citation styles. The course provides important cases of citing books and other types of resources through theoretical lectures and simulated examples, using Bibliotheca Alexandrina Manual of Style. Bibliotheca Alexandrina Manual of Style considered to be the first integrated manual that provides Arab researchers with a scientific guide for citing references in the three main languages used for research in the Arab world (Arabic, English, and French).

Discover@BA is a service that provides you with access to the entire library collection via a single, customizable entry point. You will learn how to use the search options( Basic /Advanced) searches, limit and refine your results, create a personal account ,create alerts ,find your search history and display your results.

This is a simple orientation on how to create an account on E-Learning services platform, in order to enroll in different courses and be a member in our e- Learning community. Furthermore, to know more about our services and learn about everything new in the field of education.

The course will enable patrons to use the Internet efficiently. Through in-depth lectures, patrons will be introduced to different Internet services. They will learn extensively about different web search tools, including search engines, directories, and meta search engines. The topics that will be covered include searching techniques, search engines and directories, and a study of Internet applications in libraries and information agencies.

The course defines reference materials and gives an overview of the different types of references and how to retrieve information using the BA reference collection. This course includes a lecture and hands-on practice.
