Abstract:
The Georgian NGO Momavlis Gzebi carried out Water Safety Plans in 4 Georgian villages in the region Guria and identified severe bacteriological pollution of all the tested drinking water sources. Lacking structures, responsibilities and awareness are identified as main problems for the bad water quality. If some financial means would be available, improvements of the drinking water quality could be reached on a short term. Unfortunately the severe problems within the rural communities receive low attention of the national and international authorities and donors.
