Abstract:
Experiences around the world demonstrate the extent to which climate change impacts are felt at the local level and the ways in which local actors are already effectively adapting to these changes. At the same time they are implementing promising local mitigation measures. These efforts and the needs of those most vulnerable must be placed at the centre of the international response to climate
change and the accompanying distribution of climate finance through funds such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This paper has been developed as part of a one-year project called ‘Exploring local access to the Green Climate Fund’ by a consortium of six civil society organisations around the world, and funded by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN).
