Abstract: From 2002-2005 the Ainu Culture Cluster Project in Biratori, Japan was developed to manage and promote Ainu cultural heritage. The project's positive and negative aspects are discussed and the roles of a community-based museum for for indigenous cultural promotion in contemporary society.
