Abstract:
Afghanistan is a war-affected, mountainous and low-income country; where 17% of the population comprised of under-five children. Excluding the neonatal period; acute diarrhea accounted the first leading cause of death in under-five children. Nationwide diarrhea prevalence in under-five children ranged from 18-38%. The objective of this study was to assess; socio-economic and environmental factors as well as to review current policies and strategies regarding acute diarrheal diseases in under-five children in Afghanistan, moreover to provide recommendations for policymakers and researchers
