Ioli Vingopoulou

Ioli Vingopoulou is Research Associate Professor at the Institute for Neohellenic Research / NHRF in Greece. She specializes in travel literature (texts and illustrations) local history and historical and cultural geography. Her collaboration with other institutions include issues related to the social history and culture of the Neohellenic period. Her interests also include the perceptual and conceptual shifts that have occurred in cultural history, as well as issues of cultural identity through the centuries.

Virginia Barciela González

Virgibia Barciela González graduated in history from the University of Alicante, Spain, in 2002. Currently working as an archaeologist, she is involved closely in several research projects with the Department of Archaeology and Prehistory of the University of Alicante. Her present research focuses on diverse aspects of the Recent Prehistory in Eastern Spain, as well as on rock art expressions. Moreover, this project is devoted to the study of holy caves and the expression of popular religiousness related to them.

Yasmine Hussein

Yasmine Hussein is researcher at the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center, Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt. She specializes in religious history and archeology. Her research writings, articles and presentations include issues related to the religious history and archeology of the Mediterranean area. Her present research presents the process of layering of religious phenomena in time and space in ancient Alexandria during the Greco-roman and early Christian periods.

Kyriakos Savvopoulos

Kyriakos Savvopoulos is a researcher at the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center and a lecturer in archeology and history at the Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies, both affiliated to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt. He received his PhD from Leiden University. His thesis and further research interests concern Greco-Egyptian interaction in Alexandria during the Hellenistic and Roman periods.


Azzurra Sarnataro

Azzura Sarnataro is a volunteer researcher at the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center, Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt. from Faculty of Islamic Studies and Mediterranean Countries, University of “L’Orientale” specialized in the field of history and sociology of Middle East countries. After three years spent in Egypt, she has specialized in Egyptian dialect and popular culture in Egypt.


Ayman El Gohary

Graduated from faculty of Arts of Tanta, Department of Antiquities, Ayman El Gohary specializes in Islamic antiquities in Egypt. Presently working as antiquity inspector for the Supreme Council of Antiquities, he contributes to many researches related to Islamic heritage, history and society.
