A fourth and final medical advance that emerged from the American Revolutionary War was more nebulous in nature, and thus more difficult to summarize in only a few words. Generally speaking, the entire medical profession enhanced its knowledge and its public status. War, as always, gave doctors ample opportunities to practice their art, and American physicians emerged more experienced and seemingly better equipped to face the health problems of a new nation.
