lining - the body of the uterus - where it should be, but in some other place, and
typically that’s in the tubes. One out of ten women have an ectopic pregnancy following
PID, which is six times more likely than in the general population. Tubal pregnancy in
turn is one of the leading causes of first trimester maternal death in this country, and
is a major cause of maternal death worldwide, because when the fetus is growing in the
tube, which is affixed in a narrow structure, it will actually burst the tube at a certain
point in time and cause fetal hemorrhage and death. The point is that PID is a remarkably
