The United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN Comtrade) provides commodity trade data for all available countries and areas since 1962. Every year between 120–140 countries or areas report their merchandise trade statistics to the United Nations. The market share of these reporting countries together covers more than 90% and maybe even as much as 95% of international trade. Each of these countries report the trade by commodity and trading partner. The trading partners may cover around 230 different countries or areas. UN Comtrade contains detailed imports and exports statistics reported by statistical authorities of close to 200 countries or areas. It concerns annual trade data from 1962 to the most recent year. UN Comtrade is considered the most comprehensive trade database available with more than one billion records.
