Abstract:
NATO has been a successful alliance despite constantly being on the verge of crisis due to the inability of its members to fully agree on its goals, resources, and functioning. NATO is a collection of some of the richest countries of the world, yet disagreements over means and ends still leads to a lack of resources. Since the end of the Cold War NATO has taken on the role of ‘global security provider’ and as a result is now faced with serious challenges in Afghanistan. Disputes between NATO partners could undermine ultimate success in Afghanistan.
