Joint ASRT-BA Research Grants Program for Young Researchers

The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) are pleased to announce the launching of the Joint ASRT-BA Research Grants Program for Young Researchers. The joint program is funded by ASRT, and it is managed and administrated by the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), one of the BA academic research centers.


The program was launched in April 2018 during the BioVisionAlexandria (BVA) 2018 conference, held from 20 to 22 April 2018. Prof. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology announced the launching of the joint program during his speech in the BVA 2018 closing session on 22 April 2018.

The joint program seeks generating creative and innovative research. It also aims at bridging the gap between society needs and research, placing innovation into practice and supporting Egyptians and Africans researchers.

The Joint ASRT-BA Research Grants Program offers fifty research grants to fifty young researchers under the age of 45 (40 Egyptians and 10 Africans) over two rounds (25 young researchers per round), conducting research in one of the following areas:
  • Food and Agricultural Sciences
  • Environment
  • Engineering Sciences and Technologies
  • Medical Sciences
The Grant maximum duration is limited to two years and the maximum amount of money provided per researcher is up to (EGP 250,000).

The Joint ASRT-BA Research Grants Program for Young Researchers first round online application is now open.
