Mai Al-Maghtheh

Biography:

My field of specialization is Molecular Biology, Human Genetics and Biotechnology. My first degree is medical technology from Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan (1988). I obtained an MSc degree in Medical genetics in 1991 from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. In 1995 I was awarded my PhD degree in the field of molecular biology and genetics (thesis title: inherited retinal degenerations) from the department of molecular biology and genetics, institute of ophthalmology, UCL, London University, UK. I worked as a senior research fellow on a postdoctoral research project to map and clone eye disease genes between the years 1995- 1999 in the same department. Currently I work as an associate professor at the biology department at Hebron University. I previously worked as the head of Biology Department, and as the dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (Hebron University). Currently, I am also the director of an education project, as part of a larger Palestinian Faculty Development Program (PFDP) funded by Amideast/ West Bank. At Hebron university, I was involved in a number of committees; currently I am a member of the board of Scientific Research Committee, and also a member of the Hebron University Journal editorial board.
