Director of research, Head, Plant Biotechnology Division, department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, The Syrian Atomic Energy Commission.
Coordinator of the Syrian National Biosafety Committee.
Consultant to FAO on Bio safety.
Member, Syrian Bioethics Committee.
Member, Steering Committee on Cartagena Protocol on Bio safety.
Contributed to establishing the Syrian National Biosafety Committed, writing Biosafety guidelines, National Bio safty Framework and drafting Biosafety law.
Current Research activities: a Bio diversity studies of some wild plant species (Daucus, Capparis, Eryngium) using DNA fingerprinting. Improvement of crop tolerance to salinity and drought using genetic engineering and mutation breeding.
