James Edwards
Biography:
Dr. Edwards was employed in the Directorate for Biological Sciences at the US National Science Foundation for some 25 years.
From 2001-2007 he was detailed by NSF to Copenhagen to serve as the Executive Secretary of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).
Currently, Dr. Edwards sits on several international committees and boards.
Serves on the Expert Panel on Biodiversity Science of the Council of Canadian Academies.
He is a member of the Science Advisory Board of the European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy and the International Board of Advisors for the Research Centre for Biodiversity of Academia Sinica.
President of the JRS Biodiversity Foundation.
He was also the Chair of E-Biosphere 09, an international conference held in June 2009 that focused on developing a roadmap for interoperability among biodiversity informatics� projects and resources.
Dr. Edwards received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley.
His research interests are the systematics and functional morphology of amphibians and fishes, and biodiversity informatics.
